Rheumatology services

Our rheumatology department offers a wide range of services to diagnose and treat joint, bone and connective tissue diseases. We also diagnose and treat patients with back pain. We work closely with the hospital's pain clinics to help patients develop long-term pain management programmes.

There are over 200 types of rheumatic and arthritis disease, with arthritis being the second most common cause for time off work. Early diagnosis and treatment is therefore essential in ensuring that patients can control their disease.

Our rheumatology department is one of the largest departments of its kind in the UK. We offer a range of specialist clinics, with close links with several other departments. We also have one of the most active rheumatology research programmes in the UK, which means that we are at the forefront of care and treatment.
