Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology is a sub-specialty of radiology which utilises image-guided procedures in order to diagnose and/or treat diseases using the least invasive techniques. A significant number of medical conditions that once required surgery can now be treated by interventional radiology techniques offering reduced physical trauma, less pain and recovery time thus reducing hospital stay.

About us

We are an internationally renowned tertiary referral interventional radiology centre providing a broad range of minimal invasive image guided procedures covering almost all aspects of both vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology. The department with the collaboration of the vascular surgery team has one of the largest aortic stent grafting programmes in the country, encompassing EVAR, emergency EVAR and fenestrated grafts.

Other areas of special interest in the department are; peripheral occlusive arterial disease, image guided biopsies, spine intervention (vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty), renal intervention, vascular intervention (embolisation - fibroids, PPH, trauma, prostatic artery embolisation, GI bleeding, carotid stenting), interventional oncology (tumour ablation, stenting of tracheo-bronchial tree, GI dilatation and stenting, and biliary intervention) and paediatric vascular and non-vascular interventions.

Patient

Interventional radiology is offered at both of our hospitals by appointment only. Please remember to check your appointment letter before you come for your scan.

Our interventional radiology team offer a number of services.
